Beekeeping promotion and environmental conservation in Old Moshi Area
Beekeeping promotion and environmental conservation in Old Moshi Area
CONTEXT
Most important issue for this project is that, there are existing beekeepers groups who need only support in terms of training and equipments in order to make the honey production a more profitable business to the community lives and to the environment.
In Mdawi, already the parish is conducting beekeeping activity. The activity is done with local knowledge and has not been advertized. This was due to lack of knowledge to conduct this activity at a market level. Currently the parish has some bee hives and honey which they are selling local to the villagers. After receiving this support the parish will be able to pack and label its honey for sell outside the village.

1. Broad Objective:
To Coordinate and expand beekeeping activities in Old Moshi area on a commercial scale so as to increase its economic value and enhance environmental protection.

2. Specific objectives:

? To provide modern skills and equipment for beekeeping to the target groups in Old Moshi
? To reduce forest fires resulting from beekeeping activities.
? To plant trees at a large scale that will have multiple benefits

3. Project activities:

1. Training on modern beekeepers the following subjects will be discussed:
(i) The use of the protective gears
(ii) Construction of modern beehives
(iii) Handling of bee products and parking
(iv) Processing of Honey to add value to it.
