Conservation Agriculture and Sustainable Management of Biodiversity Resources In Nyandoro Village, Chikwizo Ward A , Mudzi District – Phase II
Conservation Agriculture and Sustainable Management of Biodiversity Resources In Nyandoro Village, Chikwizo Ward A , Mudzi District – Phase II
1.0 Problem
Human pressure on biodiversity is very high in Nyandoro Village. This is a result of population migration to the lower Rwenya Basin following the eradication of the tsetse menace and the attraction to gold panning along the river. The threat to sustainable management of biodiversity has been compounded by droughts and food shortages. Most households, female-headed households and those headed by orphans are trapped in poverty, food and nutrition insecurity. The survival strategies for these households include: cultivating along the banks of the Rwenya River in search of moisture, gold panning and over-exploitation of the natural resource base, thus further threatening the management of biodiversity.
