Distribution and promotion of practice of Mr.Murzapar Usonov on creating private micro-reserve with rare and endemic plant species of southern Kyrgyzstan in the gorge Almaly of Karabulak AO through publishing book, opening and maintaining a web-site, video film shooting and informational campaign

The main project idea is to publish a book about the successful practice of local artist on protection of ecology and conservation of biodiversity in the place and to disseminate this good practice through:
- translating the book into Russian and English and distribute in three languages
- creating and maintaining a website,
- shooting a video film and conducting an informational campaign to promote and distribute the practice of Mr. Murzapar Usonov on creating a private micro-reserve with rare and endemic plant species in southern Kyrgyzstan.

Project Characteristics and Results

Capacity - Building Component

Capacity Building component of the project is underlined by educating a younger generation about the values and importance of environmental conservation that was undertaken by the producing this book about demonstrating a practice of creating of private micro-reserve containing rare and endemic species of plants of southern Kyrgyzstan.

Policy Influence

From the mass media and TV programs that was possible to attract the attention of public to the question of environment and conservation of ecology. Dissemination of books in the schools have also contributed to the better understanding of conservation of biodiversity for the school pupils.

Project sustainability

Implemented inventarization of the flora and fauna of the locality is very important in terms of For further continuation of the project after the completion of financing from GEF SGP it was proposed to create the web-site which can help in broader dissemination of information to the wider public The book was translated from Kyrgyz into English and Russian and were disseminated in the local schools and state institutions. All these activities are taken for the long term sustainability of the project.

Notable Community Participation

Local population participated in distribution of books that were published in the frame of the project, in cleaning up the project area, in planting the sampling of endemic species of vegetation etc.,

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

Promotion and advance of such good practices of conservation will be long term beneficial for the population of any country, the same in Kyrgyzstan. The project intended to educate younger generation in the example of Murzake Uson practices that the small actions can address global issues.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

Promotion of practice of Mr.Murzapar Usonov on creating of private micro-reserve containing rare and endemic species of plants of southern Kyrgyzstan in the gorge Almaly of Karabulak AO through publishing of book, opening and maintaining a website, video film shooting and informational campaign will serve as a illustrative example improving of environment.

Project Results

Jamaat "Muz-Bulak" has achieved the objectives it has intended to reach in the beginning of project cycle. It has successfully disseminated the results of practices of Murzapar Uson on creation of micro nature reserve in the village of Kara-Bulak, Batken Oblast.
The project management committee has been established and its meetings were conducted as planned.
The territory of microreserve are cleaned and . In spring, scientific research on the microreserve's flora and fauna has been conducted.
Informational boards and project signs were installed at the project zone.
Design of project's web-site has been elaborated and website www.batkeneco.kg is functioning.
Draft of the book in Kyrgyz has been prepared, translated from Kyrgyz into Russian and English and published (1050 books).
Photos of microreserve area, it's flora and fauna, and Project event are done, video with information on Project is also ready.
