Demonstration of a combined drip-irrigation with photovoltaics powered electric pump in small farms
This project will demonstrate the use of a solar pump (electric pump powered by solar PV) in combination with drip irrigation. The coupling of these two technologies is very good since the drip irrigation is one of the most efficient and water saving methods of irrigation and does not need high pressure and high throughput volumes of water.
GTZ will facilitate the assistance by a group from the University of Hamburg that has been following a similar programme in Africa. The project activities will be used as demonstration and training ground for students from the ?Harry Fultz Technical School? of Tirana. This school produces technicians and specialists of different fields and is well suited for promotion of these technologies.
