Integrated and Sustainable Rural Livelihood Strategies and Options for the community of Hangay Village in Samtse to promote integrated and sustainable rural livelihood strategies and options for adoption by the community of Hangay which will directly or indirectly contribute towards environment conservation, environmental protection and sustainable development."
The project aims to safeguard of local biodiversity by reducing the dependence of and animal on natural forest resources through stall feeding of cattle and biogas initiatives. The biogas promotion will help reduce the Green House Gas emission from cattle dung and reduce fuel wood consumption for cooking purpose. The planting of live fencing, improved pasture development and community-based afforestation in fallow/degraded government reserve forest land will increase tree coverage and carbon stock ability. The promotion of sustainable land management practices will ensure prevention of land degradation and help protect the surrounding environment.

The other important result area is the strengthening and building of institutional capacity of the local communities mainly in terms of creating awareness on the importance of environment conservation and protection as way of ensuring sustained economic growth and rural livelihood. Enhanced local capacity and knowledge system to pursue environment friendly and sustainable land management will ensure environmental protection and conservation. The overall goal is to enhance the economic situation of the community through increasing their income generating capacity and investment opportunities while at the same time protecting the natural environment.
