The Conservation of Natural Dye of Toba Community in Samosir District, North Sumatera
The Conservation of Natural Dye of Toba Community in Samosir District, North Sumatera
Ecological Threat :

Most of the community lived in Simbolon Purba village relied on farming and agriculture activities. Currently the community of Simbolon Purba experienced the change of agricultural pattern. Twenty years ago, community of Samosir still practiced horticulture farming (such as corn, peanut, onion) and rice. Due to the season change, most of the farmers are now switched their horticulture farming to seasonal crop such as coffee and chocolate. In some part of village areas, there?s still unused land which can led to serious erosion and landslide due to the lack of plant covering the land and the village is located in 1000 m above sea level. On the other hand, community?s income are now decreased due to the increased of unproductive farming, illegal logging, etc which became the major cause of the lack of local interest in developing horticulture intensive farming.
