Introduction of conservation agriculture technology on demonstration plots of CBO Jayhun as an example of GHGs abatement and adaptation to water deficit induced by climate change
The project targets to introduce and spread as much as possible the technology of conservation agriculture. In the conditions of the state order for major cash crops (cotton and wheat), absence of crop rotation (monoculture) and obsolete techniques of irrigations lead to severe problems of soils salinizations and loss of organic substence in soils.
The project offers a new for Uzbekistan practice of no-tillage agriculture with keeping constant vegetation mulch on the field surface, planting wind breaking, field protecting tree lines and introduction of limited crop rotation as a way out of the existing situation.
The project has a strategic importance for as a potential model for replication.
