Combination of unsustainable fishing methods and lack of awareness about the ecology of the reefs and other costal habitats is a constant threat to Bar Reef. Proposes to reduce destructive fishing methods, involve community in managing nurseries and replanting, strengthen community surveillance system, conducting reef cleaning programs, create awareness through various activities. To develop income generation of the community by expanding the activities of growing Aloe Vera, Seaweed farming and strengthening home gardening with waste water management combined the drip irrigation

The entirety of the project formulation was carried out based on the community participatory process and the long term and short term economic, social and environmental benefits will be trickle down to the communities. The proposed interventions were identified with the community members and potential cost and benefits were extensively discussed The final selection of the interventions was carried out with the agreement of the community members and arrangements will be made to implement community involved process and impact monitoring mechanism.. In addition, all the decisions pertaining to implementation and monitoring of the project activities will be taken with the relevant stakeholders. It is envisage ensuring effective community involvement especially in implementing Reef cleaning, Coastal vegetation restoration and Mangrove restoration programmes
