The main objective was to use the water harvesting practice in AlMasfer area which lies to the east of the city of Hebron/Bani Naim, which is a natural reserve with the average rainfall by 200-400 mm. The area suffers from desertification, diminishing the possibility of production on an ongoing basis due to lack of proper management. The process of preceding the land with water through harvesting can improve the vegetation and help to curb environmental degradation.
The target area was 142 dunum of fertile soil, where 17 low income farmers who depend on agricultural as basic income will benefit from the project.
The main project activities were: preparing tools and seedlings and contract workers for agriculture and drilling of wells, set up the ground for harvesting and work on the cultivation of trees and the drill of 9 wells, Hold awareness workshops for 17 farmers related to water harvesting and water sources, and the impact on agricultural biodiversity for a total of (72 hours). Developped publications to demonstrate the importance of maintain water harvesting and its process in agricultural biodiversity in the area of AlMasafer and conduct 5 field visits to the local community to explain the methods of cultivation using water harvesting.
