Electrification of Al-Kaikab Garden –Friends Schools by solar energy
The project was proposed in the beginning to provide 3 clinics in Hebron area with solar energy to cover the basic energy needs, and due to UNDP regulation for projects implementation in area ?C?. The project finally was implemented in AlQykab garden- Friends schools.
The project idea was to provide Al-Kaikab Garden, in Friends School, which is a famous environment educational centre in Ramallah, with renewable energy applications.
A photo-voltaic power plant in the Garden produces energy for electrification of the Garden, In addition to the climate change purposes, and a solar reflector provides thermal energy for heating water and cooking for other purposes.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
A technician in the targeted schoolwas trained on dealing with the solar systems. Science and Technology Teachers from other schools will receive a subject of training courses after the completion of the system, which they will have to share with their students.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
In the time that SGP/GEF/UNDP ensures the main financial resources, the implementing organization contributes in some of the project cost, while the Al-Kaikab Garden-Friends school will carry out all maintenance cost in the future in order to keep the system in function.
