International Industrial Symbiosis Experience Sharing Workshop
International Industrial Symbiosis Experience Sharing Workshop
The project is about a relatively new concept, industrial symbiosis. The workshop will bring together experts from developed countries, local authorities in Iskenderun, the business sector, the ministries and other interested parties, in an attempt to identify what are the pros and cons of industrial symbiosis, whether it is applicable in Turkey in an Organised Industrial Region as big and polluting as in Iskenderun, which is at the far east coast of the Mediterranean Sea and also home to several important areas, such as Chelonia mydas and Caretta caretta nesting beaches and several importan bird areas. The workshop will look into the concept as a whole, as Iskenderun as a pilot site, and the pre-requisites of the attempt, such as commercial involvement and government as a legislative and auditing body.
