The Development Costal and Biodiversity-Based Ecotourism
GOAL
The quality improvement of local communities and the management model for sustainable coastal and marine resources through the development of coastal/marine tourism, based on the biodiversity of coral reefs and it?s associated habitats
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : Accelerate and improve coral reef conservations efforts.
Indicators : 1. The exotic design on coral reefs lay out in terms of zoning of the placement of coral nursery media, model of placement of coral nurseries media, forms of media that will be created and the type of seeds that will be propagated, thus simplify the implementation by Jambianom community, especially by Bahari Lestari groups..
2. 50 units of nursery media/nursery ground for coral transplantation with the construction of concrete tables, reef-ball, and iron shelf as media for coral transplantation in the area of about 10 acres.
3. Coral seeds are available from the propagation of the results that have been transplanted by Bahari Lestari group which are 1200 of F1 seeds.
4. The spread of the transplanted seeds in the waters is 3, 4, or 10 meters above sea level.
5. The seedlings as transplantation results are maintained and grow well. The indicators of coral growing well are; it increases about 3 cm in height within three months, many new branches grow, it has a bright colour, is not occupied by moss and visited by many ornamental fish.
Activities : 1. Making nursery ground media
2. Providing seeds through various methods.
3. Spreading transplanted seedlings.
4. Maintenance of seedlings that have been transplanted.
Objective 2 : To increase the management quality of coastal/marine tourism based on the biodiversity of coral reefs and its associated habitats.
Indicators : 1) Ecovillage design, which gradually can be implemented by the people, ecovillage design is the activity to design reliable ecotourism trips, like the design of marine tourism, including snorkelling/diving, traditional fishing and canoeing, the design of cultural tourism which includes the traditional ceremonies of coastal villages, historical sites and beach art performance and the design of culinary tourism that include meals and specific snacks of Jambianom.
2) Environmental improvement of residential area and coastal resources by planting coastal trees such as pine and hibiscus trees along Jambianom coast and in the area of lake/swamp of about five hectares.
3) Effective campaigns and promotional media, in form of 500 of brochures or 500 pieces of leaflets.
Activities : 1. Developing the design of the artificial reefs layout.
2. Developing ecovillage design
3. Improving the environment of residential area and coastal resources
4. Campaigns and Promotions
Objective 3 : To develop sea-water power generation to use biorock method as an acceleration of coral reefs transplantation
Indicators : 1. Infrastructure for sea waterpower generation is ready to use.
2. Container of electric charge from seawater power generation is available and ready to use.
3. Container is fully charged and ready to use.
4. Jambianom community can access and utilize the electricity from the seawater power for village lighting or public facilities lighting such as the meeting hall and the security posts.
5. Seawater power generation obtained a patent right from HAKI (IPR authority institution).
Activities : 1) Preparing the infrastructure such as the construction of tower and vacuum vessel
2) Preparing and developing a reservoir of electric charge that will be produced
3) Filling of electric (flow) into the reservoir of electric charge
4) Developing electric network for community purposes.
Objective 4 : To Increase knowledge and insights of all parties in relation to the preservation of coral reefs
Indicators : 1. Jambianom and the surrounding communities understand what coastal ecosystems and ecotourism are, the indication can be detected through the increasing understanding and awareness of the people on coastal ecosystems that should be protected or maintained and the development of public knowledge about the principles of ecotourism.
2. Jambianom fisher folks understand well and can perform transplantation of coral reefs using various methods available including using bio-rock method according to the field reports
3. Fisher folks from Jambianom and the surrounding areas can use 'power generated by sea water' in using biorock method that is a coral transplantation method with the support of electric current to accelerate the growth of corals seeds.
4. Increase of insight of Jambianom and the surrounding communities in understanding coastal area and its usage as well as coral reef conservation. The indication can be seen from the activities of the people in term of no more coral reef destruction and the group of Bahari Lestari carries out coral transplantation and ecotourism activities.
Activities : 1. Basic training/workshops on coastal ecosystems and ecotourism to the communities in Jambianom.
2. Training of coral reefs transplantation using the existing variety of methods including biorock method.
3. Training using the 'power generation by sea water? for biorock method.
4. Regular thematic discussion once per three months on coastal and coral reefs.
5. Dissemination to the community and other stakeholders about the benefits and conservation of coral reefs.
PARTICIPANTS AND/OR PROJECT?S BENEFICIARIES:
1. Direct : 18 members of Bahari Lestari Group
2. Indirect : 150 households of Jambianom Sub Village
