Project background:


As many environmentalist, ecologists, and land use planners believe that large dam construction is a big threat to the ever fragile environment of arid to semi arid areas with the special landscape of the country consisting of mountains, vast flat lands and deserts, continuation of large dams as part of the 5th National Development Plan and lack of consideration for traditional water rights and management systems is leading to disastrous dimensions and is influencing the climatic stress.


Project activities and outputs are:


?Sharing information on negative effects of dam constructions to communities where dams are being constructed through training workshops and sessions.

?Raising awareness among technical experts, governmental and non-governmental organizations on dam constructions.

?Developing booklets on the results achieved in the workshops and disseminate it to other stakeholders.

?Conducting a seminar on dam constructions with experts and decision makers and distribute papers presented in the seminar.

?Develop articles for newspapers.

?Training workshop on sharing experience and knowledge with other international experts on dams and water resource management.
