Background

This work was initiated originally with GEF SGP site farmers in Garmsar with the help of Centre of Sustainable Development and International Center for Agriculture in Dry Lands (ICARDA). The purpose is to develop resilient crops to climate change by evolutionary breeding in the field for sustainable agriculture in dry lands and ownership rights by the farmers.,br>

Project activities and outputs are:


?Purchase of wheat and barley seeds (including endemic type) for producing in large amounts in the selected pilot site and to distribute to farmers.

?Produce seeds in pilot site (3 hectares of land)

?Meetings and workshops for farmers on participatory plant breeding.

?Booklet on participatory plant breeding and project results and PPP

?Re -publication of handbooks on safe products produced in GEF SGP Project No. IRA-G52-2002-013.
