Demonstration sites on energy efficiency in Karaganda area schools
Low awareness about energy efficiency measures in remote settlements and causes high energy consumption, bad microclimate in buildings and high costs for energy. Schools and kindergartens suffer most. Energy efficiency measures could help in solving many problems in children institutions.

Project aim:
Demonstration of energy efficiency increasing measures in two schools of Karaganda area for good experience distribution among school administrators and formation of positive attitude to implementation of such measures at schools.

Project tasks:
- Organization of two pilot sites to demonstrate the implementation of measures in schools with autonomous heating
- Creation of knowledge among the leaders of educational organizations about the possibilities of introducing of measures of energy efficiency
- Training of students and teachers by implementing of simple energy efficiency measures

Project results:
Besides the organization of two pilot sites, which serve as demonstration sites of energy efficiency measures and as a successful example to facilitate the movement of ideas efficiency of school sector, issued information materials and advice provided also achieved the positive results for the environment and the local community.
Results for the environment - by replacing of windows, roof insulation and installing reflective shields reduced emissions of 128 tones of CO2 per year.
Results for the local community - nearly 900 pupils at two schools, more than 50 teachers and administrative staff members will benefit from this project in the form of improving the microclimate in school buildings and premises, as well as additional knowledge about the measures to improve energy efficiency, they can apply at home.
