The main role of the Learning Centre Zajezova is to provide quality environmental and global education programs for schools, teachers and the general public. However, the building of the learning centre itself had a problem with insufficient insulation and high use of electric power. During the project reconstruction the building was insulated with wood pulp and the windows were replaces which helped to reduce the use of energy from 99,280 kWh/year to 31,223 kWh/year. This in turn reduced the consumption of firewood from 60 m3/year to 20 m3/year. In order to promote energy made from renewable sources was build a photovoltaic power plant using solar energy which helped to save 987 kg of CO2 emissions. Undertaking the reconstruction with environmental measures in the Learning Centre caused an increase from the Class G to the Class B on the scale of energy efficiency, approved by an assessment of an independent energy company DekTrade. 20 environmental educational programmes for at least 400 participants were organized on the topic of climate change, renewable energy and energy saving.
