the project is aiming in promoting the community-based forest management according to the belief of ethnic Alak and linking forest products e.g. palm leave products with Buddhist script writing that is implementing by Ministry of Culture as second source of income. This project will also establish village forest as biodiversity learning center for Forestry College in the province and or neighboring provinces

Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
Because, project target beneficiaries are Ar Lak Ethnic one of the minority group under Mon Kmer, which is main in 49 ethnic groups in Lao PDR. Gender equality is accepted as issue for livelihood development among those ethnics. Project indicated women as main source of labour in producing palm leafs products to provide as writing material for project supported by other donors. This income emerging for households will increase women reputation within family as well as the opportunity for them to learn from external when visiting to different projects.

Project aims to support the conservation of palm leafs tree for the purpose of promoting eco-tourism and preserving of livelihood system that highly depending on this forest, particularly the poor households
