Project Characteristics and Results

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

The livelihood activities introduce at schools level through integrated households' gardening; demonstration plots; biofertilizer production with 1,206 attendances. Project can promote the productions of 3,000 kg of biofertilizer

Replication of project activities

The project held final evaluation consultation workshop on December 17, 2010. Attending the workshop, Dr. Viengsavanh DOUANGSAVANH, Water Resource and Environment Administration Organization, Primimister Office (WREA), GEF-SGP Lao National Steering Committee Chair, GEF Political Focal Area. There are more twenty representatives of Local NGO, GEF-SGP Lao National Coordinator, UNDP CO Environment Unit Chief. As result, VYDA planed to extend its project experiences and learning to other target areas by requesting new project from SGP Lao PDR as well as to sort out co-financing in order to scaling up project activities.

Policy Impact

involvement of local government officials and policy makers at different levels are important point and signs as entry point of taking into account the international conventions related to climate change and biodiversity. proving them all need to be in the same track if we are fighting again the nagative changes of environment

Gender Focus

project clearly identify the number of girls student involved during the implementation of project activities. After registered there are 631 girls students attended project activities

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

project is highly impact on global environment. many communication materials/tools developed are supporting the understanding on the important of biodiversity and climate linking rural livelihood with natural resoruce management. Project conducted 72 awareness raising courses in 36 villages and more than ten schools. The awareness raising include tree planting, distributing CDs on Environment Song

Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples

project targets different ethnic minority communities who are living depency the natural resources and significantly low education at the country

Notable Community Participation

the participations are mainly from the students at different targeted schools. at communities level, majority of peoples participant project activities are villages authorities

Project Results

The campaign and awareness students prevention environment through by drama show activities that children were interested and share implementation well in 6 school, 36 villages of 3 provinces

Some activities is implemented not suitable period of school because school vacation same time of planting season, thus no body look after trees, some of trees was stolen, damage by cattle. But project organize re-planting. target community and school have a lot trees that support by project.

The activities that project team applied with students have effective to their livelihood, this project many people can participation even the project end bu teacher and student can continue some activities by themselves particularly technical of drama show,capacity of teachers to produce activities out of class.

There are a few works that implement over planning cause of community require such as: produce organic fertilize, provide baby trees,fish raising,
