In an effort to again restock the marine environment for local consumption and to rehabilitate the marine ecosystem, the village council of Satapuala has agreed to establish a marine conservation area that will encompass all the traditional fishing grounds. The intention is to stop illegal fishing practices not only by local villagers but outsiders and to work in reestablishing the sea grass beds, corals along with fish and other marine invertebrates that were once abundant in this area.
