Prevention of arable lands from degradation by muck soil usage from rehabilitating pond
Project goal: Preparation of organic fertilizers on the basis of artificially impounded reservoir sapropels for their subse-quent application to farm lands
Project objectives:
?Formation of a group of partner organizations for execution of the project and refining of the implementation plan;
?Storage of sapropel and preparation of organic and organic-mineral fertilizers for their subsequent application to the farm lands.
Expected benefits
?Formation and functioning of the rural community?s working group focused on environment protection in view of in-crease in income or cost reduction, as well as enhancement of the life quality;
?Restoration and reclamation of the circulating water reservoir suitable for fish rearing;
?Conservation and preparation of nearly 5,000 tonnes of organic and organic-mineral fertilizers made on the basis of sapropel and plant residues for their application to farm lands, which is supposed to satisfy the need of peasant farm holdings for full quantities of organic fertilizers intended for tilled and autumn sown cereals for the period of two years;
?Informational support to the project (information available on the websites of the International Foundation and Slonim district executive committee, coverage in the district newspaper, etc.);
?Community outreach with regard to the goal, objectives, activities, and benefits of the project. No less than 10 meet-ings with representatives of administration agencies, rural communities, and enterprises involved; speeches and pres-entations made in the meetings.
