Organisation of the mobile self-moving ferry on the river Pripyat between Stolin and Luninets districts.
Project aim: arrangement and installation of a self-moving pontoon ferry on the river Pripyat for reduction of CO2 emissions by the motor transport and related negative climate change effects, as well as improvement of conditions for development of Mid-Pripyat Republican Landscape Reserve. The following tasks are envisaged for meeting the goal in view:
1.To install and arrange a ferry across Pripyat (a self-moving pontoon of a pontoon boat type) capable of transporting local vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclers, and motorcyclists between the area of Korobye village, Stolin district and Luninets distict;
2.To inform wide public of the new opportunity to cross Pripyat and keep the stakeholders updated with a view to attract hikers and bicycle tourists to the ecological paths of Mid-Pripyat Reserve;
3.To disseminate experience of tackling local problems for life quality improvement relevant and applicable in other regions.
Expected benefits:
- availability of the self-moving ferry between the Stolin and Luninez districts;
-CO2 emissions from vehicles decreased at least 4-fold;
-information boards providing information about the ferry arranged on both sides of Pripyat;
-more than 100 people use the pontoon ferry every month;
-200 booklets designed and distributed to inform of the project accomplishments;
-no less than 5 articles published in newspapers and on the Internet;
-the local communities? expenses for travelling from the Stolin district to the Luninez district and back decreased 3-fold basically owing to fuels and lubricants saving
