Development of the Salamansa community through an eco-touristic initiative
This project intends to operationalize an underwater trail and to develop a set of marine awareness activities. The underwater trail will be a way to promote sustainable use and conservation of marine resources, and to develop alternative activities which can gradually improve living conditions of the population of Salamansa. This will be done through: a) the deployment of underwater trail of the Baia das Gatas with the development of ecotourism activities, b) capitalization of initiatives education, awareness and information about the marine environment of the community. The main beneficiaries are fishermen, community Salamansa and tourists.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
53 local students participated in marine environmental awareness activities, including marine turtle and corals conservation. 20 people participated in the underwater trail activity in Baía das Gatas
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The capacities of community members were strengthened through project sensitizing activities. The trail has a capacity to provide temporary jobs for at least 10 fishermen, according to a feasibility study.
