Promoting innovative natural resources management, linking economic value and environmental protection in Porto Novo
This project aims to promote innovative ways of land management by reforesting areas with key local vegetation species. One of the key activities is to introduce farmers to new ways of land management practices, which will involve introducing species of high economic value and at the same time protecting land from erosion. The vegetation species which will be introduced are adapted to drought conditions.

13 rural and local communities of Planalto Norte and Leste of Porto Novo municipality are participating in the project.45 community leaders have been engaged and 10 have agreed to directly manage «fenced and protected» areas on their community land.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
13 rural communities, including 45 community leaders and 8 farmers are aware of new strategies to combat desertification, specifically to experiment and adapt new sustainable approaches of biodiversity use in dry areas.
