This project support the communities? initiatives in protecting the Eld?s Deer that are representing local spiritual belief. The major supporting are carried out discussion meeting on identifying designated forest areas to be protected and conserved, and information dissemination, monitoring and tracking for illegal poachers and illegal logging, illegal intrusion of protected or managed areas.

The goal of the Eld?s deer project is to maintain and increase the Eld?s deer population by strengthening local conservation capacity and participation. Most conservation efforts in the Sanctuary are focused on increasing village participation and education to reduce the Eld?s deer?s main threats of habitat degradation and poaching. The project has undertaken several key conservation initiatives to address the threats to Eld?s deer in the Sanctuary. These include: 1) strengthening law enforcement to reduce poaching and habitat encroachment, 2) raising public understanding of the significance of Eld?s deer conservation, 3) improving Eld?s deer habitat, and 4) providing incentives for village-based conservation activities.
