TIDE Community Stewards Programme: Next Steps Initiative
The Community Stewards Project Next Steps Initiative will continue to empower and support 12 Community Stewards and 8 community members by increasing their knowledge and skills so they continue to participate in the management of the Port Honduras Marine Reserve and minimize threats that affect the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System enlisted by the UN Foundation in the 'Danger ' list. It is also intended to increase knowledge and appreciation of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve Sytem among 20 high school students. Participants of this project, will be involved in dive training, fish indentification, master class on 'Catch Shares' and exchange visit to Punta Allen to witness community management of fishery. Community Stewards will use dive and fish identification skills in monitoring and research, information and practical experience gained on 'Catch Shares' to influence decision making in the Port Honduras Marine Reserve.
