Project Characteristics and Results

Policy Influence

Cooperation with State Architectural and Construction Supervision was productive and the project has got the licence for the building of the school for disabled children in the village of Aksuu, Syyk-Kul Oblast.

Capacity - Building Component

In the frame of the project the practical training was conducted for the local specialists and building workmen on using energy-efficient technologies.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

Revealing future partners and stakeholders will accelerate a construction of energy-efficient school for disabled children in Aksu village.

Policy Impact

The building license for school for disabled children in Aksu village was received from regional department of State Architectural and Contruction Supervision.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

The meeting with local communities and local building officers was very useful in terms of raising the awareness in the field of energy efficiency. Conducted training on use of energy effective technologies for buildings gave more information about ecological impact of this measures and about cutting of carbon emission to the atmosphere thus contributing to the environmental protection objectives.

Notable Community Participation

The project involved Parents Initiative Group (PIG) which was responsible for: - finding the future owner of the property - the house of children with disabilities, - defining and elaboration of future relationships between the PIG and House owner. - assisting in the development of full project proposal on providing the information campaign and practical training in the field of energy conservation and use of energy effective technologies for the local population, territorial self government administrations, local architectural staff and masters. - Distribution of the role of partners like: GEF SGP, Public Foundation Ravenstvo, PIG etc., - Search for the partners and donors for co-funding of the construction works.

Planning gef grant

The project was a preparatory phase for the development of the full project proposal thus the successful completion of the preparatory phase foreseen its up scaling and implementation of full project including capacity building, environmental and social components.

Project sustainability

With the objective of promotion the idea that was developed in the frame of the project preparation phase, it is proposed to submit a full project proposal on ?Construction of energy effective school for disabled children and train the local masters about use of energy effective technologies? which was developed in cooperation with Parents Initiative Group and public Foundation Ravenstvo. Well organized cooperating partners and carefully planned working scheme will ensure a long term sustainability of the project.

Project Results

The main goal of the project was achieved: the full project proposal on demonstration of possibilities for cooperation between state sector, CBOs and public sector for introduction of energy effective technologies and building of school for children with disabilities in the village of Ak-Suu was developed in cooperation with project partners. The full project proposal will include a broad informational campaign introduction new energy effective technologies and also practical training for local craftsmen and building engineers on use of energy effective technologies in the building of houses or buildings. The project documentation for construction of school for disabled children was elaborated and approved by Ak-Suu branch of State Architectural and Construction Supervision. The license for construction of school for disabled children was received.
