Reduction of land degradation rate in the area of 4 hectares by introduction of finance scheme encouraging planting of bush and tree vegetation containing species included in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan in Shekaftar village of Chatkal rayon.
The village of Shakaftar is located in the mountainous area of Southern Kyrgyzstan with population of 6000 people. The population is mainly engaged in agricultural sector. Due to nonrational use of lands there is great problem of degradation that local people face nowadays. Current worsing tendency of living conditions leads to the unfriendly relashionship of man with nature. As a result, there are more trees being cut, increase of mud flow and degradated lands. The possible solution to these problems was initiated by the local community based organization of Nurmuhhamed- to take the responsibility for the lands. The main project idea is to demonstrate economical and ecological attractiveness of rehabilitation of bush and tree vegetation in the degradating areas.

Capacity - Building Component
Although there is no specially desinged trainings for the capacity building, but, there is an 'in field' knowledge that villagers will get from the project territory from the project implementaros, through co-working, dissemination of information and sharing ideas.
Policy Influence
At the local level, this initiative have a great implication and will drive to the better condition regarding to ecological and economical benefits. The participation of village population into this project will support change of broader public policy and their treatment to the environment.
