Project Characteristics and Results

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

Installation and sustanable using of solar collectors will save local inhabitants savings for heating.

Gender Focus

Installation of solar collectors will lighten the homework of women, which is too much and difficult in rural places without hot water.

Notable Community Participation

Jamaat "Talas" members will develop a finance scheme determining conditions of allocation and return to those interested in installation and exploitation of solar collectors.

Capacity - Building Component

Local population is now aware how to use elaborated finance scheme of taking, using and repaying micro-credit financial resources.

Policy Impact

On a community level, the local population recognized the importance of saving ecology, they know about the benefits of using the solar collectors and at the same time to contibute to the reduction of emissions.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

Prepairing of 3 photostories about project activity in Russian and Kyrgyz is will increase public awareness. Calendars and booklets have been issued, articles in local newspapers have been published. During all Project activities the information on advantages and characteristics of using alternative energy sources, namely solar energy, was spead. Local popilation is now informed about environment protection issues, economical efficiency of using solar collectors.

Project sustainability

Sustainability of the Project is supported through businessmen and also by local authorities.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms

Talas Jaamat will use the financial mechanism of microcrediting as for getting the solar collectors. They have introduced three ways of possibilities to get solar collectors: First way of getting the solar collectors is to pay immediately for it, second way is purchase in installments, and the third is to purchase on bases of Joint security of the group of community.

Project Results

Local population is informed about advantages of using solar energy for domestic needs. Till the end of Project 96 villagers applied to Jamaat "Talas" for buying and installing solar collectors. People from other villages are also interested and requested to bring sollar collectors.
5 workshops were organized and conducted. In total, 129 persons participated to these workshops. Announcements with invitation to these workshops were published in local newspapers.
With support of SGP/GEF, calendars (150) and booklets (180) have been issued and disseminated on these workshops and also through local authorities.
Jamaat "Talas" has issued 200 booklets and 200 calendars for it's own expenses. They were disseminated through local authorities, local governments, public organizations and active villagers.
Financial scheme was elaborated: it determines the whole process starting from issuing resources to interested persons till returning according to composed schedule. Forms of all legal instruments (contracts are also composed.
The list of interested organizations (mostly, such social object, as kindergarten, bath-houses and etc.) and families is composed. These interested parties are categorized by volume of solar collectors.
Full Project Proposal with all supporting documents and agreements on co-financing is composed.
