Reintroducing the Caribbean Flamingo to the Codrington Lagoon National Park. Barbuda. Antigua and Barbuda.
This project is Phase 1 of a two phased project which will ultimately end with the reintroduction of the Flamingo (Phoenecopterus ruber) to the Codrington National Park in Barbuda. During Phase1 all the necessary ecological studies will be completed (e.g. ecological asssessmens and ecosystem needs of the Flamingo; gap analyis and risk assessment etc) as well as work with the local community to build their capacity to play a major role in management of the project. By the end of Phase 1, it would be determined whether or not the natural, institutional and legal environments are suitable for reintroducing the Flamingo and the additional capacity required to ensure that an effective management system is in place.
