Return Trees to Forest

to address climate change risks such as drought, flood and severe storms and mitigate their impacts for the population in Phalanxay district, Savannakhet province. Project will invest its? efforts in achieving sustainable natural resources management, increasing food production through introduction of integrated pest management and improve readiness to address climate change risks through ensuring proper management of community forest (?Sacred Forest?); increasing rice and other crops production and improving aquatic habitat and other aquatic animals through community-based preservation spots.

Notable Community Participation

Local authority and people share the project since beginning project makes plan, training, implementation, conservation activities and agriculture product including livestock, fish rising to conservation pot, organic rice plant people get income to develop their family economic, and they also have attitude to save natural resource what is long term for their living.

Capacity - Building Component

Participants of the project had trained for new technic for livestock, organic rice planting and project management. Project staff who is the from local authority and target villagers get the method of the living with their wealth natural resource while they are participants the project.

Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples

People create idea of their indigenous to share through the conservation natural resource activities they learn from their true life plus to technic plan of the project.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms

The financial management of the project is under control of GEF rule but the payment of project to the activities still late to the product season

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

The target area of the project 6.7 ha and 2 conservation pots will be recognized by project meeting and outsider while local people alive with available natural resource.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

This project is natural resource conservation that involve to the rural livelihood, such as fishing, livestock, planting and other agriculture activities , so while the project implement for conservation environment what people who joy the project can improve their living including all technic of the implement are their native experience they are interested participation.

Gender Focus

Women from target villagers share through the income generating activities of agriculture sector,they have gained lesson and got job what are main factor to improve their livelihood.

Project Results

This project cooperate between village authority and district authority that involve to the conservation the natural water source and forest, local people will have wealthy forest and conservation pots that can be supply natural fishes that can support food security.
