The primary goal of the project was to improve the water regime and restore the process of peat formation at both project localities Krivy kut a Trstinne luky through partial filling of the ditches or creating dams in them. Project activities involved 10 unemployed and three employees of the municipality in Spiska Bela. At Trstinne luky were built altoghether 50 dams and 129 meters of draining channels were landed up. At Krivy kut were built another 20 dams and around 75 meters of draining channels were covered with soil. It is estimated that the peat formation will be restored on one quarter of the area covered and that it can absorb approximately 3,6 tons to 10,8 tons of CO2 per year.
After obtaining a building permit an area dedicated to rest and learning activities was built where were implemented various educational programmes for 4 groups of two local schools (a total of 66 pupils). 5 teachers were involved in the implementation of the field trips. Activities included learning, games, experiments, observation and research.
