Perception and Adaptation to Climate Change through Pesticide Management in Lagos Agricultural Communities in Ojo-Barack and Alapere Farming Communities in Lagos
The project?s goal is to introduce a better way of using pesticides in the face of increasing temperature due to climate change. As a result of reported cases of poor yield, pest resistance to existing pesticides, toxicity of crops due to excess use of pesticide, skin irritations and problem among pesticide users, agro-ecosystem contamination and pollution levels and little and in some case no formal education and knowledge on climate change. There are also the problems of lack of adequate policy to guide the use and management of pesticide and in addition to lack of empirical data and documentation on the relation between climate change, pest activities and pesticide management.
Project activities include; Baseline survey, Perception survey, Relationship analysis, Review of Policy documents, Health impact, Awareness programme/capacity building and Assessment of pesticide application and pest management in response to change in rainfall and temperature. Groups include the women, youths and men especially farmers.
