BIOREMEDIATION OF PETROLEUM CONTAMINATED SOILS IN EMEDE, DELTA STATE, NIGERIA
The incidence of oil pollution and contamination of lands/soils results in soils being unproductive, thereby leading to loss of several naturally occurring plants and lives in the affected areas and in turn lead to food scarcity, scramble for scarce resources, and over harvesting of the remaining plant lives, deforestation, climate change, loss of employment and poverty including adverse health implications.
Project activities involved are planning, Acquisition & Preparation of project site, Preliminary works: soil tillage, Site studies, stocking of plants, Initial soil analysis, Planting and nurturing of vegetation, monitoring & evaluation and Engagement of stakeholders and other inhabitants. Groups involve include the women, men and youths of the community.
