Ovim community initiative Land degradation management and improved community livelihood in Ovim community-Kachia LGA, Kaduna state Land degradation
Ovim community has been experiencing decline in soil productivity and traditional means of livelihoods
This project is aimed at controlling land degradation and the use of agricultural lands.Its objectives include; to strengthen capacity at the community level and support sustainable land Management; Promote sustainable agricultural practices, such as crop diversification to reduce the risk of failure and judicious use of fertilizers and other agrochemicals.
Specific activities involved ; Training will be provided to women organizations and community members that will include land management and records, under- cropping and water harvesting to provide complimentary irrigation, Sensitization & Advocacy meetings and construction of 2km stone terraces. The representatives of the four women cooperatives societies, Ovim community initiative and three town hall representative are involved in the project activities.
