The project is designed to raise awareness and strengthen capacity of young people on climate change as Agent of Change for promoting a friendly and Sustainable Environment. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity of Young People on climate change and motivate preventive measures towards a healthy and sustainable environment. The increasing population in Ondo state has resulted in destruction of green areas through deforestation, increased CO2 emission from vehicles and combustion of fossils fuels for domestic and industrial uses. Trees in many forests and communities that should have reduced the effect of CO2 and slow down green house effect have been cut for various commercial and domestic uses, thus exposing these areas to erosion and unfavourable land yields. The land use systems have been altered and adversely affected the environment.
Project activities include; Community mobilization, training of 100 students on climate change, planting of 2000 trees in 10 secondary schools and 10 communities in Ondo state, Outreaches organized to celebrate World Environmental Day (5th of June) in schools and communities, production and distribution of IEC Materials 3,400 on climate change, formation of green community promoters club in schools and the communities and formation of green community promoters club in schools and the communities. It involves both the students, youths , men and women of the comunity.
