Strengthening the Capacities of local Communities for the protection of Biodiversity and sustainable land management in Grand Kru County
The project is seeking to develop the capacities of local communities in Biodiversity Conservation and reducing the impacts of land degradation in Grand Kru . The project will also reduce the level of forest degradation in Grand Kru and it environs and contribute to the UN-REDD Initiative to which Liberia has signed on. In addition, the project will address the issue poverty reduction, environmental sustainability and food security.

Notable Community Participation
An in-depth consultation has already taken place, with discussions beginning in 2007 with community and stakeholders representative. This proposal has evolved as a direct result of that consultation process and a pre-project development visit which was undertaken from October by the NC.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Knowledge transfer and capacity building based on personal involvement of local people are at the heart of this project and hence dissemination is an integral aspect of what is planned.
