Developing a Children's Museum in Dominica
Developing a Children's Museum in Dominica
It is our firm belief at Brainstorm Inc. that our children?s education now will impact the
attitudes of our future leaders and generations. There is a need to educate Dominica?s children
in order to secure their future wellbeing, promote a sustainable environment agenda, and
encourage greater appreciation for our indigenous people. They need to be provided extensive
and meaningful exposure to organic agriculture methodologies and sustainable land use
practice, the options for generation of renewable energy, and lifestyles of our indigenous
ancestors. We have recognized that there is a lack of such opportunities for effective learning
to take place in this regard.
We, at Brainstorm Inc., feel that the right approach has not been taken to grasp the interest of
our children with regard to environmental issues. Using our collective wealth of experience and
training in the science of learning coupled with the expertise of those in the field of
eco-friendly practice, our vision is to create a space that appeals to the physical senses of
Dominica?s children - making the science and cause and effect relationships come alive. The
idea is to provide an experiential and fun learning opportunity unlike anything else found here
on the island.
The Planning Grant will go towards
Research - to engage in researching and designing effective exhibits for the children?s museum.
Meetings ? to consult with experts in order to design effective exhibits for the children?s
museum.
Drafting and reviewing the project proposal ) ? to use the information gained through research
and consultation in order to project a cost for the establishment of the children?s museum
exhibits.
