Sustainable Agriculture for Seniours Home Utilising Greenhouse and Composting
The NDHA has been in existence since 1980. The resident capacity at the institution is fourteen (14). Presently there are eleven (11) and a staff of nine (9) including the gardener. Government gives a yearly subvention, Social Welfare Division gives paupers allowance to six residence and some families give contributions. For the rest of our budgeting income, we depend heavily on Cash and In-Kind donations. These funds do not cover all of the bills.
The overall objects are:
1. To Reduce Operational Costs
2. To regularly provide healthy organic vegetables to the home
3. To reduce the food bill
4. To become self reliant
The Activities we will be undertaking are:
1. Erection of Greenhouse for planting organic vegetables.
2. Purchase of Tools, Equipment and Planting Material. There will be readily-available organic vegetables.
3.Capacity Building.
