The NGO - Portland Environment and Protection Association is implementing a sustainable land management programme, that employs better agricultural practices, to address deforestation, soil erosion and nutrient depletion while enhancing the skills of farmers to protect their land, improve livelihood, while increasing their awareness of the effects of climate variability and change.

Notable Community Participation
Community consultations were held and residents had input into the proposal development process. Farmers will provide their lands for the implementation of project activities and will provide volunteer labour and expertise in planting and instituting sustainable land management practices. The communty will also be involved in participatory monitoring
Gender Focus
Gender is being mainstreamed in the project, as evidenced from the proposal development stage. Men and women were equally consulted and continue to be consulted to have their voices heard on how the different groups will be affected and what they would contribute to the project.
