Medidas de Protecção Ambiental nas Zonas Altas
This project was prepared based on priority needs for environmental protection, specifically combating soil erosion and lack of water in Monte Grande local community. It is well accepted within the community and environmental agencies, including the Parque Natural do Fogo, that soil erosion and water scarcity are the most important challenges the community experiences. In this sense the Association of Monte Grande is promoting and enabling activities to tackle these issues, while contributing to the Park priorities.
With project implementation, water availability will eventually increase, and specific anti-soil erosion actions will be implemented. The work will be done by the locals in close collaboration with Park managers and the Delegation of the Ministry of Environment. All activities will as well create temporary jobs opportunities for the community and therefore, increasing financial resources for the families involved.
