Medidas de Conservação do Solo e da Água
This initiative aims to address land degradation and water scarcity issues in Pedra Comprida, a local community located within the Parque Natural Serra Malagueta, Santiago Island. Pedra Comprida is located in area vulnerable to soil loss, due to torrential rain and heavy mud slides.
To minimize this, the Association proposes actions to capture the excess of water into four 18m3 tanks and construction of anti-erosion terraces, in partnership with Park authorities. Direct beneficiaries will be local community and association members, as well as the park.
The cost of this project will be around 2,619,425.00 CVE. The association, the Park, and GEF SGP will co-finance 290,000.00, 480,000.00 CVE, and 1,849,425.00 CVE respectively.
