Small framing is the main activity in Achada Bel Bel, Santa Cruz Municipality, Santiago Island. Access to water has been one of the major problems for farmers in the community. Lack of water is reflected on low productivity and therefore limited access to financial resources and obviously poverty. This problem is exacerbated by salinization of soils and groundwater, caused by over pumping and unsustainable irrigation methods.

The Association of Achada Bel Bel, in the quest to respond to such problems drafted and obtained funding to improve water storage (two tanks), irrigation methods (implementation of drip irrigation systems), and therefore improving lives of farmers in the community. Project beneficiaries are small farmers, men and women heads of household.
