Captação de Precipitações Ocultas no Planalto Leste para Reforçar a Agropecuária
The project is located in Espongeiro, Planato Leste, Santo Antão Island. Similar to other rural communities in Cape Verde, accessibility to water is a main concern. The project area is characterized by a regular fog (occult precipitation) a potential source of water, still untapped or not explored to its potential.
The specific objectives of this innovative pilot project are: 1) Capture and store rainfall (hidden precipitation) to provide water for animals during the dry season; 2) capture and store hidden precipitation in 4 sub-zones Espongeiros using family systems; and 3) Implement an innovative drip irrigation compensation to enhance fruit production. The beneficiaries of this project are 30 Espongeiro community members and their families.
