The Orango National Park has a team of only 6 guards. The park consists of 5 islands with about 3,000 inhabitants. There only transport is the canoe. The team of guards do not have the means to carry out its program of environmental awareness. The radio will allow greater proximity between the team of the guards and the population. The local environmental most important issues, are now discussed weekly.

The community had a participation in several levels: (a) labor in the construction of the antenna support of the radio, helping to collect and transport more than 100 kg stone along a distance of 4 km; (b) more than 200 residents of 16 villages of the island competed with proposed designs for the Radio's logo (c) annual donations in cash and cashew nut (Xof 200 000, ie about 400 USD) l used in the acquisition of operating material

The radio requires for its operating a budget to pay the team and consumables. This money comes from three funds: a) grants from the population, made in the commercial harvest period; b) payment of communiqués issued by radio c) payment charged to private or partners to produce and broadcast programs d) payment for charging mobile phones (the island has no source of electrical power)

The radio team is composed of ten young members, of whom 3 are young girls. One of the programs will be issued by radio relates to topics of interest to women, proposed by the female community of the park.

This is a community radio in the country with greatest potential for sustainability. Completely autonomous in terms of energy, an enthusiastic team to work on a volunteer system. There are 4 sources of revenue, including three through the sale of services and a fourth corresponding to donations from the community. The funds are managed to ensure the needs of the radio which basically relate to the purchase of consumables and paying the fees charged by the state in the annual amount of $ 500.
