The majority project activities set in the second quarter was completed. A study tour in Vang Vieng was also carried out at a model farm by the project proponent. The study tour involve introduction to integrated farming e.g. worm raising, fish culture, composting and livestock raising. Development of integrated farm (VAC) including preparation of land for planting, fencing, digging of pond was also carried out and the project provided necessary materials to the community to commence the activities. The study tour provided the much needed details on integrated farming and had also given a clear picture to the community on how to manage VAC in a practical manner. To date, there are 15 families which has represented the project through series of workshops and trainings on the techniques of integrated agriculture. A fish culture training in Savannakhet was also participated by six family members of the project, training include exchange of lessons learned in fish culture and ways to ideally manage small fish ponds. Challenges encountered by the project include rice planting season, this has caused a slight delay in the activities as farmers are pre-occupied in rice planting at certain times of the year. Delays was address by conducting a meeting with the community members and schedule was finalized so as to provide a project with definite timeline on its activities. Activities yet to be completed include web designs and evaluation meetings of the project and provision of project materials. Overall, the target villages are happy in the purpose of the project. Participation of indigenous peoples is also being promoted throughout the process of implementation by collectively gathering their ideas in problem solving that has arise during the course of project. As part of project gender mainstreaming, there is a notable participation of women in the project. The proponent is making sure that women are being involve in any way, currently there is an equal participation of women and men throughout the project activities, approximately 50% of the project members are women.
