Banana Product Development and Conservation
Biological conservation for the protection of land degradation through promotion of banana products as secondary occupation and alternative sources of livelihood.
Majorities of communities in Nong district, Savannakhet province are living in the mountainous area, which is an important sources of water, energy, mineral, forestry and agriculture land, as store of various living things, habitat of flora and fauna, which are endangered species. Growth of populations in the targeted location lead to daily increased food for this uplanders. They almost ending up with the over exploitation of natural resources for survival. Moreover, the irrational uses of natural resources specifically slash and burn cultivation have been destroying the ecosystems balance that become big and important issue in this area.

Replication of project activities
The project is intended to be replicated within the province of Savannakhet as local authorities are very enthusiastic on the purpose of the project.
Project sustainability
Ultimately, the project will limit the foreseeable spread of land degradation in the nearby forest area. In the course of project implementation, the proponent will strive to promote participation of women in any aspect of the project. By providing alternative source of livelihood, extractive activities in the community that cause land to be degraded will cease.
