The project commences by conducting series of stakeholder meetings. As per usual, the project team received astonishing support from district officials and surprisingly good participation from the community. Attendance from the community was very high in one of the workshop, it was estimated that approximately 70 villagers attended the workshop. Workshop includes discussion on environmental, social and economic dimension of the project duly facilitated by the project team and several personnel from the district including District Agriculture and Forestry Office (DAFO). The project team carried out small land-use mapping with the community and assessment of seasonal flowering/fruiting calendar for the natural dyes species. Participation of women was very evident, there were at least 50 percent turn outs for women participation. Questions were also posted by the community in any aspect of project but was addressed by project team accordingly. After the community workshop, the project team made a summary presentation to the district officials. The deputy district chief assures that the office will have the atmost support on SGP projects and will oversee the progress of the project itself. The construction of nursery has been finished and seeds that were sown showed viable germination. As of time, approximately 6,100 dyeing trees were planted and villagers voluntarily contributed their labour in sowing and construction of the designated communal nursery and plots. Ten members of the project also attended the study tour to exchange knowledge on planting. An estimated 35,883 hectares of land where colour plants are growing will be conserve as community will be not be dependent to gathering of wild colour trees and essentially saving the remaining wild population. The project was also visited by Lao Star Television who documented the project and aired to the whole country. Documenting such project will maximized publicity of the project and a chance to be replicated by other communities across Laos.
