The project team coordinated several meetings with the communities and district officials to formulate steps on sustainable resource management. The project had also set up the community fishery conservation plots and the watershed protected area. The total area of the fishery conservation plot is 3 kilometers along Namkhaleu River and total area community watershed forest is 7,717 hectares. These areas are divided into different land-use zone which is currently utilized by the community. A signage of zoning map can be seen at the entrance of the village. Difficulties of the project included encroachment in the protected areas of individuals coming from other district and provinces mainly for collecting NTFP, cutting of tress and hunting. The construction of a Nam Far Hydro-power Dam in Louang Namtha Province is also causing great concerns among villagers because it is thought that Namkhaleu Village will be under water for 150 meters when the operation of Dam commences. The project is intended to settle the mentioned issues by strengthening dialogue with the stakeholders specially with district officials.
