Agro-biodiversity conservation through establishment of community forest nurseries in 2 hectares land belonged to 4 Dekhkan farmers of Hamadoni district
The main goal of the project is conservation of ago-biodiversity and improve reforestation through establishment of community-based nurseries of forest and fruit trees on the base of 4 local farms, establish new and rehabilitation of old orchards using proper soil preparation, tree plantation, care, pruning, rejuvenation, joining, etc of Hamadoni district.
Project activities:1.Identify and select necessary quantity and type of tree-plants for establishment of new and rehabilitation of existing orchards and forest coverage (apply local species or species adopted to local climate conditions); 2.Organize and undertake meetings and awareness raising campaigns among project stakeholders in order to attract and engage wide range of local communities, farmers, local authorities of target jamoats: Panjob, Turdiev, Mehnatobod and Chubek in co-financing and co-implementation of project activities; 3.Preparation of 2 ha land within 4 local farms for tree plantation, considering 0.5 ha land in each farm selected. (The local farmers: Odinagul, Dovudkhuja, orchard/ landowner Mirzoaliev Ch. , and Umatalieva R); the preparation works included but are not necessary limited to: soil preparation, plantation time, care, pruning, rejuvenation, joining, mulching, proper irrigation, 4.Organize and undertake 4 practical seminars/ workshops among local communities (farmers, authorities, state committee employees, etc.) in the target jamoats on the issue of ?introduction of alternative techniques for establishment of new and rehabilitation of existing forestland and orchards through proper tree plantation, pruning, rejuvenation, joining, irrigation and care. 5.Elaborate and distribute 1000 information manuals and 1000 lists on ?orchard establishment technology?, proper soil preparation and tree plantation, pruning, rejuvenation, joining, irrigation and care;6.Information exchange and distribution of the project results through mass media and local papers.
