“Agro-biodiversity conservation in the degraded landscapes of 50 Local Farms (LFs) through introduction and adaptation of agro-forestry and land farming”.
The main goal of the project is to conservation of agro-biodiversity through introduction and implementation of agro-forestry in degraded production mountain landscapes with active participation of local community of Shurabad and Dogiston communes, Surabad district.Project activities:
1. Promote and introduce agro-forestry process as best practices on rational and sustainable land use and management in mountain landscapes which are experienced and exposed to further degradation and erosion. Organize the civic awareness campaigns and education courses for local population in order to introduce them with alternative agro-forestation including rejuvenation of old gardens/ orchards, rehabilitation and increase fruits production, etc.
2. Engage 50 local farmers/ gardeners and community residents in implementation of the project activities and objectives directed to conservation of biodiversity, rehabilitation and rejuvenation of old orchards/ gardens and application of effective practices for soil rehabilitation and conservation;
3. Promote employment creation and improving livelihood of the rural population (women, local farmers, gardeners, etc) through introduction of sustainable and environmentally-friendly technologies and diversification of agro-production as well as prevention of harvest loss in agro-forestry system, thereby contribute to the improvement of ecological, socio-economical situations/ conditions.
